Strength and wisdom

Irma is now a category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometers per hour. The National Hurricane Center expects further strengthening, so we are in for some really, really bad weather.

There is not much anyone can do about the weather, but everyone can do something to limit the consequences of a severe storm.

The run on the hardware stores, on both sides of the island, suggests that many citizens are putting a serious effort into protecting their homes and their families against the fiercest hurricane St. Maarten is about to experience since Luis devastated the island 22 years ago.

We wish our readers and our clients strength and wisdom for the next couple of days.

Today will obviously not print on Wednesday. The publication of the next issue very much depends on the damage Hurricane Irma will inflict on our island, but we will keep you informed to the best of our abilities via our web site.
